so i am giving kaspersky total security a try since i paid for three years and have two months left and even though kaspersky did not let me know they were no longer updated all of the old program and the new program was available which does not help me believe kaspersky is trustworthy or really looking out for me, i found it wandering around looking for reasons for the glitches i've been experiencing... the download and installation went fine, which is surprising as it is the first time i upgraded kaspersky without having to contact support for assistance with the license key... it was the first time the upgrade automatically accepted the license key, definite improvement... compatibility may have improved as well as there were no conflicts and the install was seemless... i am ldoing the first vulnerability scan and it's about halfway through and i don't know if it's any better as i have nothing open (so i don't know how intrusive it may be or how much it may be slowing down the computer... i just want to see everything run through before seeing if i can actually use the computer while kaspersky protects it...
ok, so the vulnerability scan showed the usual vulnerabilities (adobe reader which seems to have a deal to be updated frequently so it can try to slip additional software on the the computer which is probably why they keep it free, but it's unethical in my book so i little respect for the company) and microsoft internet explorer which is chock full of vulnerabilities but i chose the trusted sites and the sites where pop-up blocker is disabled so i accept those... running a quick scan now, which apparently is what the critical area scan is called in the new kaspersky... it's running much faster than the old critical area scan... and no threats detected...
yeah, so i am bored and some time later, we shall see if anything is better now...

musical distractions
If people had visible signs or meters that told something about them, what would you want it to tell you?
dumb poll (above), smart responders
all the previous poll votes were somehow erased, so, nevermind... ironically or coincidentally or whatever, the results were very close in practical numbers to the results above shown with just three votes, if you understand the mathematics behind that extrapolative reasoning... i will probably remove the poll at some point... it is a ridiculously useless feature...
SEARCH ME
the thing is, with my tendency to babble and meander and whine and allow distraction to take the lead more often than not, even in this blog that sort of meant to merge brevity with focus like some bloggers do, searching for key words does not always lead to specific information about the subject of that key word... but... here is a start at an easy way to search for key words in this blog... use the search box at the top of the blog to search for words not listed here... if ya wanna, that is... and feel free to suggest words to add to this search shortcut section... click on the words below :)
