fruitful awakening

though sleep could have easily lasted longer if the phone did not ring, i find myself spouting out purposeful babble and random nonsense this morning at many unknown locals in the new web world (so designated by the demise of the written gardens at the hands of the dastardly att folk, who suck, by the way)... busy day of three softball games tomorrow, so relax today... maybe some laundry and unpacking?... perhaps... fresh air (no times square)...

and now awake watching craig... bugged by the probably loss of 90% of the web world because corporate america, in this case, att, did not provide accurate information in email and blocked me from downloading and saving my web pages... att sucks... and then there's work on my mind as well, too much of it, not enough support...

i am reaching the point of faking it because nobody really cares whether i do or not except me and i will burn out if i do not cut back on the time i put into work... so life goes on and i will survive and continue looking for people who care... and for money, i'll play the corporate game and produce the paper in fewer hours a week...

and euphoric and giddy and by all normal standards, quite bipolarly insane (it's a new diagnostic they missed in the new DMSV, but don't tell anybody cuz they'll look at you all funny-like)...

ATT really seriously majorly amazingly SUCKED today... if i wrote ATT SUCKS a billion times, it would just describe part of the day... i spent from 10am until 7pm trying to find out what the new POP3 and SMTP server addresses were and at least thirty different ATT CSRs left me hanging or hung up (of course it could have been dropped calls after being on hold for up to 55 minutes at a clip)... the fact is, ATT has some amazingly bad customer service people... and their convergesys outsourcing does not help their effacacy... fimbidimblestipts!...

so a bit after 7pm i rush out to work to take care of the admission who came in last night and collected my $100 for just over an hour and stopped at giovanni's and publix on the way home to eat lasagna and stuffed shells and chocolate milk and chocolate pie for dinner and bliss is as easy as that... la dee da dee diddly doo :)

meanwhile, i've got this red spotty itchy rash on my left forearm, a dry scaly rash on my left middle finger, a dry scaly rash on my scalp, an infected wisdom tooth, and a serious case of sniffles... is dr. house in the house?... this body is slowly falling apart and i'm laughing like the joker from batman... can't nothing get me down anymore?...

who knows, but nothing in recent years... it's like i've got a teflon psyche and rubber heart... or silicon... mercury?... it's all metaphorical, ya know...

cell service has sucked today... and wouldn't you know, i decided to explore the computer a bit more and discovered that i can send ext messages from the computer to the cell phone and vice versa... so i dug deeper and found i can check my usage and stuff and then...

the att communication manager froze...

here we go again... a few weeks ago when i updated to windows vista sp2, the att connection stopped working and i spent two hours on the phone to get it fixed and it turned out i needed to uploade an update to be compatible with windows vista sp2 that microsoft nor att naturally did not tell me about... and today, the manager locked up again...

turns out the tech support person, after an hour and a download and following the instructions posted on their website, admitted that there is a known issue with windows vista compatibility even with the latest att software and so the feature manager won't work, but i can still connect to the internet as long as i don't use the features... so why use the att software when it is not compatible with windows?...

because using the windows software is feeding the monster, the microsoft monopoly created by subtrifuge of most every other software through incompatibility issues... heck, even other microsoft software has issues... heck, even the operating system itself has issues, maybe more than all the other software's issues combined... crap makes crap... incompatible crap craps incompatibly... or something like that :)

i'm more frustrated and tired of microsoft crap and suckage than it may seem, but after wasting another two hours on the phone with att suckage, and crap, it's time to rush into the shower and head out to jackson's party... happy new year everybody :)

netowrk issues... i've realized that since getting a more consistent 3g network signal, i am getting consistently slower downloads and uploads... well, i haven't had time to spend on the phoen to sort it out, but tonight i suddenly could no longer download mail or browse the web and the connection manager said i was connected, so i called att... i finally had to tell the very nice techie that i needed to get off the phone, so they set up service ticket and they will call back... the thing is, looking at my schedule, they won't find me home at my computer anytime they call back until february 3rd, at least...

i am buying a new laptop this weekend... this old cluncker is fine for sitting on a desk as a desktop, but i need a portable one... the decision will be between an eee machine or a bigger, but much lighter than this one, model... cost and impulse must strike a compromise... and i';ve got to remember i am covering precious' rent for february and laying out the money for the tennessee trip next week... raspy, get a job and buy me a laptop, dangit... actually, you can cover a few and then some, a nice stereo too... furniture... a complete tuneup for the car... yeah, i'll keep dreaming... he'll be rich someday and pay be back... no more loans for trips to the unkraine until he does though :}

did you know that korea and japan average over 16mbs (megabytes per second) download speed?... and the usa average is under 6mps... dozens of countries are way ahead of us in technology, including internet speed, which is communication for business and people (and government, military, security, and so on... who's computers will communicate faster in a crisis?... not the usa computers, that's for sure)... and when i personalize this it gets much worse... the usa southeast average?... 2mps... and att average download speed in this area?... 0.5mps... and my connection?... between 0.03mps and 0.1mps... scary slow...

so ok, a change is in order... but for the short term, i need to find time to get the laptop and i won't have time tomorrow or friday unless i take more time off work and that's ridiculous with the load on my desk, so i should have done it tonight and doh, i was on the phone with att from about 7:30pm until now... saturday morning?... must be... so how was your evening? :)

some days i wake up lonelier than others... usually it is an external influence, a modern-times frustration that wakes me before i intended to wake that sets off the lonelies cuz, after all, frustration appreciates commiseration and i've not have a commiserator in my physical world for many years... sigh (blink blink :}

it does not help when, just when i think i might be changing my habits toward the wise-healthier side of the tracks, i eat two extra mini-rib sandwiches with pistachio crisps and spinach dip after midnight and then fall asleep... ahem, see, if someone was here laughing with me, it would be so much less lonely :}

so this morning a collection agency calls and before i was able to get their name and number and the name of the person calling, they hang up on me... all i got out of it was att sent a bill to their collection agency that morning... yes, att again... inside i am more like

FUCKING ATT AGAIN!
only a much bigger font... well, i was awake... remembering how they destroyed my website and all the work i ut into it and the years of writing i did didn't help, but that's another story... so i called the 611 service number and within a few minutes i was speaking to nancy, a manager... the csr must have heard the hostility in my voice when i said you either get me a manager who can convince me not to cancel all my att accounts right now or just cancel them all... wanna hear irony?... i did not have to give my telephone number, name, or anything except my last four of my social to the manager to be taken care of... all the hoops they make us jump through entering our number, verifying our number, verifying our address and so on is just to keep us busy while we are waiting for them to either have a free csr or for your account to come up on their screen... or maybe it's just a test of obedience to get a feel for a customer's mood... well, they heard my mood loud and clear and knew exactly who i was without my saying a word or pressing a button of identification... the phone company has caller id, who'da thunk it...

i am now waiting for a call back because the manager at the wireless department could not get a csr or manager at the land line department on the line and the wireless department manager could find no past due amount on my account to explain the collection call... in fact, she found there was a credit of some $58 on some other account just floating around their system as if they could care less that they have my $58 while they still bill me and she quickly mentioned that she was transferring that credit over to my current account... seems that should be bordering on illegal, but when she gave me a placate the customer credit of a full month off my $80 service for the next bill on top of the $58 credit she "found" in her computer system, i decided not to cancel... after all, next month is practically free...

still, the past due amount in collections could not be resolved because she could find no amount in their system because att wireless computers and managers cannot access any other att service (like the land line i disconnected in august because i moved here where att does not service... did i mention that an att or bellsouth csr told me they do service this address and that was the clincher for signing the lease?)... so the att wireless csr manager said she will continue trying to call the landline and internet customer service managers (two different incompatible departments, apparently) to see if she can help me resolve this without my filing a complaint of harassment against att and their collection agency who hung up on me and also contacting credit bureaus to find out if this att collections crap is on my credit report...

now i've been on the phone every month for the past few months with all three departments (and all three of their separate billing departments, which makes six different people to wait in a queue for and repeat the att mess for and wait while they research during each call)... i won't mention the att worldnet or yahoo sbc or prodigy or mci or any other dysfunctional att departments that were once companies i still have accounts with in this particular rant)... i've paid every bill they've found for me (which is probably why there was some credit floating around in their system)... and suddenly, this morning, xmas week, att sent a past due bill on an account they can not identify without consultation and further research to a collection agency that woke me and then hung up on me when i questioned who owned their collection company and who at att signs the service contract for their services so i can speak to them about the consistent errors due to the dysfunctional business organization at att...

nancy, who was quiet patient with me, assured me that due to the volume of feedback att has received on the matter, they are working toward combining all services and departments under one csr department so a customer can call and speak to one person about all of the att services, including the myriad of companies att has swallowed up over the years... of course she said that takes time to trains people and set of an infrastructure when i told her i've heard that tune for a couple of years now...

anyway, tossing about $140 into my pocket did placate me for the moment... se shall see if the next call is telling me i owe even more than that amount, which is common practice for the bait and switch multiple csr systems at these huge companies... and by the way, i am awake...

i'll nap today, for sure... in between taking calls from precious who left ohio at 6am (my first wake up call... she called again at about 9am and will call every couple of hours cuz that's the deal we made so i can feel all sorts of reassured that she';s not laying in some ditch somewhere (hey, what can i say, it's been a dramatic morning :)

at least i took the day off... att would have really set me off if they were interrupting a work day with their horrible business... now, to see about the nap and then enjoy a beautiful afternoon... i hope your day starts out better and continues to be wonderful :)
