first, the league... it's a church league... a christian league... and unfortunately, it is one more experience proving to me that the more people believe and profess they are good and fair and right, the more corrupt and wrong they can be... every week the rules changed this season and the changes always benefited the teams run by the church leaders... they don't seem to see the obvious, that power corrupts and just because you have "followers" that does not mean you should take advantage of your followers... the good church-going players grip for a moment and then turn the other cheek... it's been ridiculous and people continue leaving the league because of it... this season we actually got to play four of the 14 games scheduled because the other 10 games were forfeits because the other teams did not show...
now that the facts are out of the way, the coed team did not play well tonight... we game up 6 runs to a very good hitting team and that team also made some amazing plays in the field, but we were right in the game and lost 6-5 when the third base coach made a base coaching error and quelled the rally in the fifth inning... we then found out that was the last inning because even though it was a championship game and we were supposedly playing ASA rules and i've never heard of a championship game that was time limited... but the rules change every week and the league manager's team had the 6 runs and we were coming back... so they win the championship and we come in second in the coed league...
the men's league we played the same team, except men replace the women on the coed team... my men's team does not have a co-ed team so they showed up and the other team had the advantage of being warmed up and ready... so we were whipped... they got the rules wrong again though:
Section 9 Run Ahead Rule: Men's Class A: 20 after five and 15 after four innings of play. All other SP: 20 after three, 15 after 4 or 12 after five. 16" SP: 12 after four and 10 after five.
they called the game after 3 innings when we were down by 15 runs... i told them the run, but they insisted they were right... they were right if we were playing fast pitch softball, but not slow pitch... anyway, we still had fun playing, but my arm is really sore...
