veterinary costs

it is amazingly inhumane that so many people die or live lower quality lives simply because capitalism and greed puts good quality health care costs out of reach for average people and cutting edge health care out of reach of most people... but it is ridiculous that the same greed factors make pet owners jump through hopes and spend a fortune on testing and treating and trying to keep a pet alive... and then there is the absolutely ludicrous practice of requiring a prescription for dog food...

you may remember the hassle last time...

the dog food company has a very poorly designed website and a monopoly on the prescription food... it really is such a scam... well, my blunder was ordering too much - and forgetting that the vet did not put the prescription dog treats (yes, a legal prescription from a vet is needed to but dog treats) on the script that jackson got last time and so the $100 order for dog food i paid for six days ago never shipped out because the dog food company (who has a monopoly on this prescription-only crap) sent a fax to the vet and the vet has not responded so the order is still pending so there will be no food coming as expected and happiness is down to his last can of food...

jackson can't get to the vet for food today and says she will have to go monday, so he will probably get sick tomorrow when he refuses to eat dry food because we have no canned food in the bowl (he would rather get sick than eat the dry now that he's had the taste/texture of canned... he digs through the dry and spreads dry pellets all over the kitchen floor in order to get to the canned stuff)... none of us are a happy campers, but at least jackson doesn't have to deal with any of it except stopping at the vet monday and buying a few cans... but that'll only last week... she doesn't have the money for cases which is why i bought the cases online last time...

feeding a dog should not be such an expensive hassle, really...

so i called and waited and finally spoke to someone who could help me (like offer to ship some food overnight because of the dog's need and inconvenience) so i cancelled the order and then went to the website and put in another order just for the canned food... hopefully the other order will be cancelled as i requested, but the site did not have the update of cancellation yet... so we will make the one can he has left last until monday night and then the canned food order should come by the end of the week so hopefully he won't make himself too sick as he will not get as much canned food as he usually gets for the next 48 hours...

and all this for food that costs more than $2 a can and half the internet considers either crap or even unhealthy for dogs, but we won't go there...

good morning :}

musical distractions

If people had visible signs or meters that told something about them, what would you want it to tell you?

dumb poll (above), smart responders

all the previous poll votes were somehow erased, so, nevermind... ironically or coincidentally or whatever, the results were very close in practical numbers to the results above shown with just three votes, if you understand the mathematics behind that extrapolative reasoning... i will probably remove the poll at some point... it is a ridiculously useless feature...

SEARCH ME

the thing is, with my tendency to babble and meander and whine and allow distraction to take the lead more often than not, even in this blog that sort of meant to merge brevity with focus like some bloggers do, searching for key words does not always lead to specific information about the subject of that key word... but... here is a start at an easy way to search for key words in this blog... use the search box at the top of the blog to search for words not listed here... if ya wanna, that is... and feel free to suggest words to add to this search shortcut section... click on the words below :)
