ridiculous stats (again)

the stats get more ridiculous each time i check them... not just cuz of google stat errors, but cuz of the spambots out there that seem to fixate on an entry, an entry sometimes two or four or more years old, and in a month make that entry the most visited entry of the entire almost 5,000 entries in a blog of almost 7 years... it doesn't get more ridiculous than that... so the most popular entry is not chosen by you dear readers, but rather, it is chosen by some spambots for whatever algorithmic reasons... so this one had over 400 page views in the past month and it is now the second most views post in this blog, passing this one and if that is not meaningless enough, this 2008 entry moved into the #1 spot overall over the past two months and had 113 page views last month... why?... only the spambot algorithm knows...

this one was second for the past month and moved into fifth place on the all time list... ok, so whatever, right?... yes, well that is the name of the entry in fourth place all time, coincidentally and all... and for what it's worth, a site called vampirestat* has credit for the most page views (second is my our website), but even they send less than 1% of the total page views, so what does it all mean?...

PS... a not about vampires and the other sites out there looking for suckers, don't be one... as in don't click on those links if they appear in your stats ya hear?... or, for those of you like me who will almost always rebel and click when i am told not to, have your virus program and malware programs up to date and running, please)... take this good advice if you are finding lots of visitors from specific sites you don't know to your blog(s)... here is google's take on it...
