some time later this afternoon (yes, i am manipulating time again, amazing, isn't it?... i am actually getting my hair cut at this moment, according to the time stamp, but that's another entry), another sudden thunderstorm rolls through and within fifteen minutes the water is at the doorstep and eight inches deep at it's deepest and rolling out from the doorstep twenty feet in all directions so leaving the apartment, in an emergency, would be very dangerous... watching the water valve cover floating off from the water valve casing lets me know the water is eight or more inches deep at that point, which is disconcerting... this time the water lapped up over the door jam and i grabbed towels and created a makeshift dam and a dozen (at least) towels later, towels that now have mold and who knows what on them, i was able to keep the water from getting to the carpet (except for a few inches of from closet carpet {which hopefully will not stink and bring mold, mildew, and fungus into the place cuz there is all three right outside the door on the concrete and bushes [ah, the poor rose bush that i prune and feed and care for daily as it is struggling to survive, alas] that i treated with disinfectant and will point out to maintenance cuz i am not going to be responsible for replacing carpet and i may ask for an expensive mold spore air quality inspection}, which management will appreciate or pay for), but if i was not here there would be water damage to the kitchen floor and entryway carpet...
i called the office and one of the managers who lives in one of the apartments here and knows about the flooding issues (her back porch gets flooded, but at least she can walk out of her apartment without walking through a dangerous mini-lake) and she said the community manager had contractors out here to assess the property and see what is needed to reduce the flooding issues and make it safer this week and they are working to get corporate to authorize the funds needed to make the necessary repairs (an expensive proposition)... she suggested i email the manager to have a written record and include the photos of the mini-lake i took... unfortunately, i was engaged in holding back the water with my towel dam at the waters peak so i don't have good photos (the photos i took earlier this week when the flooding almost rose over the doorjam were at night so the darkness makes it poor quality visuals of the lake)... anyway, hopefully the management and corporation will not ignore the dangers cuz i'd hate to have to get a lawyer involved and call them on negligence... they are aware of the dangerous conditions and must prove they are taking actions to improve safety, but hopefully we do not have to have a court decide how responsible they are for any damage or injury the flooding might cause (being a risk manager is helpful in these circumstances, aye?)...
life's little challenges (first world problems cuz, alas, there is poverty in the first world... but i still eat well, play well, and enjoy many luxuries most of the world never even experienced, so... relax and enjoy the ride)... maybe i'll buy a boat, or at least an inflatable raft lol... high boots might be prudent too...

musical distractions
If people had visible signs or meters that told something about them, what would you want it to tell you?
dumb poll (above), smart responders
all the previous poll votes were somehow erased, so, nevermind... ironically or coincidentally or whatever, the results were very close in practical numbers to the results above shown with just three votes, if you understand the mathematics behind that extrapolative reasoning... i will probably remove the poll at some point... it is a ridiculously useless feature...
SEARCH ME
the thing is, with my tendency to babble and meander and whine and allow distraction to take the lead more often than not, even in this blog that sort of meant to merge brevity with focus like some bloggers do, searching for key words does not always lead to specific information about the subject of that key word... but... here is a start at an easy way to search for key words in this blog... use the search box at the top of the blog to search for words not listed here... if ya wanna, that is... and feel free to suggest words to add to this search shortcut section... click on the words below :)
