reasonable food, slow service, odd atmosphere

ok, so the newest vegan friendly coffee house in town, sleeping moon, which is not brand new, but just the newest of the group that could be called vegan friendly coffee houses with live music (there are maybe ten, probably a few i don't know about... austin's, dandelion, stardust, yellow dog, drunken monkey, natura, infusion tea come to mind), has some growing to do, especially when a popular local singer/songwriter comes back to her home town and does a show there... the two goes running the place seemed quite overwhelmed by the crowd and the orders for food and drinks... we got there an hour and a half before show time and it took forty minutes to get our orders (there were five of us) and the soups was just warm and the water did not arrive until a half hour later after we reminded them three times... no rudeness, just slow processes... once they saw the place filling up they called in one additional hand to serve and buss tables (every table was over-full and there was a standing room crowd too)... guess they just don't get packed houses much...

when i called during the week the evening staff seemed to not know how to answer the simple questions about whether we needed tickets for the concert or whether the place gets crowded when they have live music... they told me to call in the morning and speak to the owner... the owner seemed almost as uncertain, but said she didn't think there's be any problem with overcrowding and she saw no request for tickets...

ok, so growing pains... the food was ok... nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain about (other than the slow service and forgetfulness... the appetizer we ordered came after the sandwiches, as did the soup, after we reminded them we ordered it... and we paid when we ordered... anyone who didn't have cash were served but they had to get call the owner to get the modem for the credit card machine working which happened some time after we ate... growing pains...

it was all worth it because amy steinberg will be singing in a few moments...

Catch up (and know more)

musical distractions

If people had visible signs or meters that told something about them, what would you want it to tell you?

dumb poll (above), smart responders

all the previous poll votes were somehow erased, so, nevermind... ironically or coincidentally or whatever, the results were very close in practical numbers to the results above shown with just three votes, if you understand the mathematics behind that extrapolative reasoning... i will probably remove the poll at some point... it is a ridiculously useless feature...

SEARCH ME

the thing is, with my tendency to babble and meander and whine and allow distraction to take the lead more often than not, even in this blog that sort of meant to merge brevity with focus like some bloggers do, searching for key words does not always lead to specific information about the subject of that key word... but... here is a start at an easy way to search for key words in this blog... use the search box at the top of the blog to search for words not listed here... if ya wanna, that is... and feel free to suggest words to add to this search shortcut section... click on the words below :)
