one thing about reading the bbc newsfeed is translating british english into u.s. english... for instance, an articulated lorry slid off a snow covered road into a river in wisconsin (just one of the dozens of depressing articles in the news feed that include's chavez's death, a million syrian refugees, cargo ship stranded off pamana, bankers all over the world being jailed or executed (while ours are given bonuses), the tampa sinkhole, bolshoi dancers fighting, chinese baby murder, snowstorm in u.s. midwest, bulgaria mobster's daughter abducted, and the usual politican bs... just a sampling, mind you)... that articulated lorry is a semi truck, tractor trailer, in u.s. english... like 30,000 bounds of bananas for irreverent harry chapin fans (we all speak our own referential language, after all)... such a sad world of tragedy, sadder still that most did not have to happen but humans just love killing each other so much, and it all comes right to your screen on a daily news feed... feed, ironic word...
and now we see why i am turning off the news and tired of facebook already... i suppose i could create a new fb account and invite my actual real-life friends to it (my current account is selected more by wall-feeds, as in what people put on their wall, rather than actually knowing people... i am using fb as a way of meeting people with like and diverse perspectives rather than as a private friends-feed cuz, after all, i have a phone and email and other ways of sharing for friends who want to keep in touch... though actually, come to think of it, i check email less than once a week and only check a few of my many dozens of folders so email is no longer any sort of reliable connection for me)... friend call if they want me, that's why i pay a fortune for cell phone service, ya know? (and there's a quirky smirky raspberry for ya)...
somebody come on over and save me from the news feed lol lam :)

musical distractions
If people had visible signs or meters that told something about them, what would you want it to tell you?
dumb poll (above), smart responders
all the previous poll votes were somehow erased, so, nevermind... ironically or coincidentally or whatever, the results were very close in practical numbers to the results above shown with just three votes, if you understand the mathematics behind that extrapolative reasoning... i will probably remove the poll at some point... it is a ridiculously useless feature...
SEARCH ME
the thing is, with my tendency to babble and meander and whine and allow distraction to take the lead more often than not, even in this blog that sort of meant to merge brevity with focus like some bloggers do, searching for key words does not always lead to specific information about the subject of that key word... but... here is a start at an easy way to search for key words in this blog... use the search box at the top of the blog to search for words not listed here... if ya wanna, that is... and feel free to suggest words to add to this search shortcut section... click on the words below :)
WORK ... JOB ... MUSIC ... LOVE ... SOFTBALL ... KA ... 42 ... LOL ... LAM ... LAA ... ... ... ...
