after the ball

softball, that is... jackson left our first league early and the report from the second league is, ooops, big loss... half the team couldn't make it and we played a really good team, so not unexpected... (nope, the unexpected will come tomorrow, remember?)... the afternoon team has two other pitchers so i haven't pitched (or played, actually, cuz of the arm) for them in two seasons (so why am i still paying full player price?... good question, aye?)... it's the one team where i lost my position while injured, alas, and it's the team i register and pay for every season (four times a year for the past three years) and too often i don't break even, alas, but that's for the record and once more exposes my greatest weakness, uninhibited generosity... how clever, no doubt... i forget what the record is there, maybe 3-3... a double header next week against two of the best teams in that league finishes the regular season and decides where we go in the playoffs... and yeah, jackson won't be there... stay positive, remember...

we lost the championship by 2 or 3 runs last season...
