what science does not know

a theory of everything may require a fundamental particle, a singularity that is the essential building block of everything... everything from the itch you cannot scratch to the stars and galaxies beyond the horizon... but what are these singularly same component particles made of? (the question may drop jaws... and the answer, energy... energy that at once is and is not matter... energy that at once attracts and repels... energy that we have called love and hate, science and god, energy that is simultaneously, in human form, emotion and logic... energy that is instinct and conscious awareness in sentient and inanimate form... the energy that is how the brain does what it does, and how a star does what it does, and how a cell does what it does, and how the universe does what it does... at once empirical knowledge and faith, at once everything and nothing... in the time of a blink, it comes and goes a million million times... there is no scale to measure, there is no worth to treasure, there is no end to pleasure, there is no rhyme to complete it beyond itself...

so now can we rest?
