saying no

people who get to know me just a little often ask me if i ever say no... this is because i seldom do because i enjoy sharing and helping and giving and saying yes is the way to do that... but there are times when i decide that i've given enough and i have a choice between giving more or giving myself some me-time and tonight, it's a bit of me-time...

a few weeks ago the coach privately arranged with the better players to form a new team for next year without me or jackson or others on it, so this team is dissolving anyway... tonight i decided that four (or was it five) weeks of showing up monday nights and cheering on the team because from the bench was enough giving... last week the coach sent out and email that said "please realize as I do that there can be a difficult balance between a successful team and making everyone happy" and since i am the only one who has not played for most of the season, i got the message... i believe i am the only one on the team who never missed a week, but tonight i am not in the mood to show up and be disappointed that i am not playing again, so i wish them well and move on...

ironically, this is the by far of the least team-like of the four teams i play on... the show up late and most have missed at least one game and they don't hang out after the game... they also have the least skill of the four teams... tonight they will be tested and we shall see if the pitcher will be able to handle a team that can actually hit the ball (they haven't played one in the past four or five weeks)... i really hope for jackson's sake they win (and i get the t-shirt i paid for if they do), but i doubt they will... ultimately, i am caring about me first on a monday for a change my right foot is thanking me big time for the extra rest and not fighting with rush hour traffic is another smile...
