a facebook note

so maybe i already out this somewhere in my blog world and maybe i just linked it somewhere in my blog world but i realized just now that a link to a facebook note might not be readable unless you are logged into facebook and even if you are logged into facebook you might need to be my friend on facebookl to read notes (the facebook security measures are not very user friendly, i mean, i should be able to decide who has acess to whatever i put on facebook, but perhaps giving that much access control to all users is a coding challenge they just don't take on) so i decided to put it here... yes, i wrote another note on facebook where many more people know i exist (as opposed to the millions of imaginary fans here... but i love you all, each and every one of you, and you know i do)... fact is i do not want the few of you who do follow me here to miss a thing, so here is what i told the facebook world the other day...

A Facebook Day

So I spent a large part of yesterday wandering Facebook and I found myself rolling my eyes and scratching my head wondering about people. I was saddened to see the posts getting the most attention were divisive and/or derisive or simply tragic. The posts offering meaningful information on important issues and solutions to struggles so many people face each day were largely ignored. People seem to prefer fighting to working together, even when they want the same outcomes. So many political wars fought in words on Facebook.

I found more posts about who won the debate than I did about the issues. Being rather independent, I ended up posting this on a Clinton site engorged in Sanders bashing:

Thank you to those of you posting meaningful articles on serious issues. I am saddened that the posts getting the most comments on this page are the posts that pit Democrat against Democrat and not the posts that discuss the important issues and solutions all people should be discussing. Ending Citizens United and other SuperPACs, Redistributing the obscene wealth funneled to the few. Turning the Oligarchy back into a Democracy that is actually for the people. Putting the criminals in Congress, on Wall Street, and in business in jail. Ending the killing of children over ideologies and saving the planet for all children. Those are some of the things we need out of this election. Not who "won" a debate. Please remember that a divided house does not stand.

Then I remembered how much I dislike politics and wandered off to find images and photos I could enjoy. I remembered, somewhere in the middle of the afternoon, how addictive sharing words can be for me. I love written communication. Correspondence started for me long before the internet and it was personal and professional pleasure for many years.
There was a point yesterday where I had to pull myself away from the computer to eat and drink and refocus on the reality around me. A cat mourning the loss of her dog brother. An empty silent where a wagging tail used to be. A small box labelled Casey. The slow process of mourning needs some of this time doing nothing in stillness.

Still there were some work responsibilities to take care of even though I took the day off. A friend I'd been meaning to call for days, maybe weeks, to invite to see a show this weekend. I bought the tickets weeks ago as a surprise to help get him out of a funk. Sure glad I took the day off or I might have forgotten to call again. Forgetting what isn't directly in front of me is a survival technique that helps me focus on doing my best and enjoy the moment, but sometimes I even forget what relaxing at home feels like.
I am not sure what my time on Facebook means to anyone. For me, it was just a random wandering, reading, being inspired and frustrated and upset by the news of the world we are such a troubled species, alas), feeling inspired to respond a few times, and remembering correspondence. The written words. I wonder how many of the hundreds of people who were once my pen pals might be out there. Anyone remember The Writer's Exchange? The Letter Exchange? Paper Fantasies? Two were small magazines I published for a while. When there was time for creative dreams and more sharing.

Loving my job lets me easily get lost in it and time passes. Friends wonder why I seem to disappear.I am still alive and well, just loving the work I do. And softball. Playing softball fills at least three evenings a week and much of each Sunday. I used to love running but don’t make time for it these days, so I am so glad I returned to playing some ten years ago because without softball, I'd probably be working even more hours and aging faster doing sedentary things like watching more TV. I do enjoy the evening hour or two I catch up on some TV shows, especially when my roommate has time to share the characters and stories and roller coaster of emotions that fiction can inspire if you let it in. This weekend I will once again experience live theater which is always a big smile.

Then, while I was writing this pondering reflection on my Facebook day and life as I know it, the phone rang. A team I don't usually play with needed me to play so I paused in this writing and this bit of babble was delayed until, well, here it is, the next day. We came back to win 18-17 after being down 16-4 last night. We shared big smiles. That makes five wins in my last five games with four different teams. A good week with fun people. More smiles. While I was on the field a friend I have not seen in many months sent a text asking if I'd play cards tomorrow. Another smile. Tomorrow is a softball night though. Do I have time?
So after remembering how much I enjoy sharing written words yesterday, I decided to ramble on a bit about this life I live and leave these words here for anyone interested. Did I just blog? I did just smile. More smiles. Life is full of smiles.

I must remember not to forget that.

and yay for finding positivity out there in the realer world... i tend to get sucked into the seriousness of politics and religions and all sorts of things when i visit facebook which is why i stay away most of the time, but every now and then i do explore the world outside of my mind and immediate life (though i still avoid the news because i want to know the truth) and i still dream of finding true friends and facebook does offer the opportunity to reach a whole lot of people so there you go...

whatcha think?...

facebook corp

I just found out that facebook corporate is SPAMMING through text messages... not very friendly of you, facebook... but then, facebook was never about making friends, i mean, you have to be someone's friend to friend them on facebook... friend someone just because you find their public posts interesting and you can be banned from friending anyone for weeks... why make a post if you don't want people to see it and respond?... people are so paranoid and illogical... anyway, after that facebook disturbance in my cell phone i went to the site (so they got what they wanted, damn) and changed notifications and changed my password, but found out that to stop getting "PUSH" messages (the corporate term for SPAM from corporate), i need to install the facebook app on my phone... i don't want the facebook app on my phone, so they are unethical and invasive like all other corporations... fifteen minutes was all the facebook i could tyake today... i have not been into the online world much lately, in case you haven't noticed by my blogging...

not another facebook entry

unfortunately i know way too many people using facebook daily including jackson who, like most young wippersnappers of this technodependant generation, is on several times a day check friends posts or posting something of her own... i mean, i could be doing something sensible like watching jenna coleman's dress flutter in the wind on dr. who, jeez louise (clever, no doubt), she's adorable, but there are so many other libido fantasies to distract us from reality and that is definitely not facebook (not a libido fantasy nor reality)... yes, the hunger is to learn and share is ever so real and vulnerable when the mind is stimulated and the information junkie is easily excited too...

the unfortunate thing is all this facebook communicating everywhere around me and so close to me draws me to the site now and then and once there, i am sucked in by the news of the world and positive pictures and messages and the sense of attention the site provides and before i know it i want more and the only time i've got is sleep time so i miss sleep and feel tired and am less productive and eat too much (cuz being awake longer there's more time to eat and being tired brings on more hunger) and will power wanes so i am more drawn to the information (being an information junkie) and imaginary rewards facebook provides so i spend more time there and sleep even less and miss whole nights and crash and burn and that's not a good thing... so whatcha gonna do about it?... i mean, if you care, you could explore and share and make all this time spent not sleeping and reading and leaving comments more worthwhile...

so here you go, homework, if you like, or simply the links to the mind you are reading as expressed elsewhere... reactions to the news of the world especially seems to come out on the facebook wall... and zillions of likes... gazillions, even... all yours to browse through if you want to know... thanks for clicking and reading if you do :)

link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link linklink linklink link link link link link link link link link linklink link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link link

wait, there is more... the following links are the websites that i somehow found myself reading when i found links to them on facebook and decided i would like to read more... yes, the secondary addiction of facebook, especially for the information junkie, is all the hundreds of thousands of links so easily found on the facebook wall... so if you happen to have a few hours (or days), here ya go :)

yeah, all that time i could have been sleeping... lol lam laa...

facebook blues

i find facebook disappointing most of the time because it reinforces the reality that nobody really cares to know what is going on, mostly people just want to vent or stay on the surface... and personally, it leaves me sad that those closest to me don't even acknowledge my presences when i pop up there... the worst aspect of the facebook experience is the news i read there... this world is 90% bad news and i seem to have a lot of facebook friends who are very good at finding bad news... i selected some of them, most selected me, and i keep them around because i do not watch or read the news (as little as possible and almost always only by accident) so facebook is the only place i find out what is going on in the world beyond my immediate daily life most months... jackson is my only other sourceand we don't talk much serious stuff as we prefer to have fun in our few moments together... i prefer it that way because the world is a seriously depressing place, especially for an empathic kid like me...

i save a whole lot of photos or memes or whatever we call them and i ought to create a facebook page to store them because they take up way too much space on my hard drive (one of these days i need to connect one of my external drives and clean off this laptop, then install a better version of windows, but that's another story)... i have five or six fb pages already and seldom find time to upload anything to them... they were going unnoticed last time i looked... when i get another computer i may create another fb account and select only people i actually know (have or have had face-to-face contact in daily life) and see what that experience is like... there is a lot to learned about people on fb as many let stuff out there they rarely if ever discuss in the face-to-face physical world... it's always been that way online from my experience... i wonder if you notice that in your experience online... anyway, a couple of weekends on facebook with a week off at the softball tournament in between (wow, extra time?... a little) and this is what came out (with some extra entries . . . in the mix):

waking fb fb fb fb fb fb fb fb briefly on fb airports sleepless voices orlando next wi-fi heat so softball . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . world . belief night fb fb nocturnal new page fb fb fb fb fb fb ytube final fb fb fb fb fb thoughts dis after

and these are the places fb lead me to:

facebook moments

after a few months (four, actually) i re-activated my facebook account, at least for today, and it is good to see a high school classmate living his dream (and one of my dreams too)... facebook has it's pros and cons, but i just don't find time for it or interest in it these days... some friends in the offline world use it, softball teams use it, but i don't have time to check it often enough to depend on it for communication (and i don't want it bogging down my old phone), so i'd rather not feel obligated to get on the computer and spend an hour a day checking all the friends and teams... and then there is the news, which sucks... i don't turn on the tv news and used to read the news via facebook feeds, but the world is so depressing i'd rather not read the feeds anymore... yeah, so this momentary facebook moment is fading fast... i may leave the site active for now, but if i start hearing the same sort of "why weren't you here or there, i posted it on facebook" guilt trips from teams or friends i'll probably deactivate again... the way i see it, friends who can't call or text me don't really want me, they just want people at their event...

meanwhile, there's the sad and crazy world... a survey found that 29 percent of Louisiana Republicans said Obama was responsible for the Katrina response... a more interesting waste of time was finding a very odd name for a site comparing itself to medical marijuana... makes no sense to emphasize the law and substance abuse if you are trying to offer an alternative calming peaceful therapuetic experience to people... one person's opinion, the first five minutes were a reasonably calming sleep machine, the wind down after five minutes felt like a let down and then the lower tones felt like sitting in traffic on the highway culminating in an annoying alarm clock buzz... just because they call it marijuana does not mean it is... and i wondered over to some music... and then, who remembers the deeper roots of rap, after all, just repeating the same rebellious perspective of youth taking a serious look at the culture demanding conformity, absorbing individuality and creativity, and judging differences as wrong or evil... it is so obvious before the indoctrination, before the blinders, before the fear replaces the open mind... culture changes... but frightened people remain scary and the insistence of the adults at the time that they are right beyond question seldom waivers... even truth chnges, which is why fundamentals must be considered more important than momentary institutionalized truths...

well, before i go off on a sociological rant, i'll just close the site...

say it again (part 1)

yes, i will repeat myself in order to shamelessly plug the three new pages i created on facebook (and i will do it again... we can find some original explanatory notes in previous entries but the definitive introduction to the facebook pages has yet to be actually written and this is just one small step for man, or rather, one small step towards that end...

the first page i created over on facebook is independent views... i think i can thank one person for inspiring me to want to get the political debates off of my primary facebook page cuz i am so not political and really don't wanna be (my political status on facebook reads: wish politics was more humane, for the record), but i have noticed satirical mockery of authority is not the only reason for my interest in politics this year... observing the fall of the usa has started intriguing me and i decided to create a facebook page that would allow me to post, and therein save, articles and images and thoughts about the political landscape for my perusal, history, posterity, and even commentary when i find myself inspired to write a few words and communication if anybody notices...

yeah, so being a relative independent in virtually every aspect of this life, i named the page independent views and now you know... don't all rush over and ooo and ahhh at once now :)

not much face time

kind sorta meaning that i have not been on facebook for a day or two cuz i am enjoying life without facebook (should i be concerned about being struck by lightning or something?) and i am realizing that facebook has brought the news back into my consciousness cuz without facebook i rarely have the news in my face... the news is mostly proof that the human race is suicidal, delusional, paranoid, and easily diagnosed with a wide variety of what the medical profession would easily call insanity (or something like that)... after a couple of days i realize that time away from the news and facebook is like a mental vacation... so for those of you who wandered over here from my facebook, thanks for stopping by... i am not gone, just on vacation :)

happier than a witch in a broom factory?... code red dr. pepper coming :)

the facebook life

the current most popular form of the internet life is all the rage with the largest market of cross-cultural diversity since the advent of cyberspace (following the youthful myspace craze) is, as some of you may have heard (sarcastically, of course), facebook... in pondering the place in life that facebook has taken in recent years, the following status blurb found it's way on to my facebook page:

laughing at the fact that i get text messages to remind me to check facebook messages that remind me of events i have been invited to (sometimes)... and laughing at myself for rhetorically wondering whatever happened to phone calls (oh yeah, voicemail :)

for posterity, at least :)

facebook blocks

PintClub is a community service organization, part of the needed grassroot organizations that run blood drives in communities all over the world. The work of the people running the site saves lives. Each pint of blood donated is precious. Blocking this site could cost someone a life-saving transfusion. Please think about that. Thank you.

that's the message i wish everybody would send to facebook censors (<--- click on the link go to the page where you can send the message)... it's frustrating because facebook no longer seems to have a way to contact a human and their censor-bots do not seem to respond to the messages sent to the link above that asks "did we block this site by mistake?"... yes you did, facebook, but who's reading the messages that you ask for when you make a mistake?...

it is a very worthy cause so tell everybody to tell facebook they are wrong, m'ok?...

facebook validation

do you go to facebook for validation?... do you go because you are lonely?... do you go because you want conflict?... everyone has their own reason for visiting, reading, and/or writing online and facebook is currently the buggest community or gathering spot online, but there are themes we can ask ourselves about if we are interested in the reasons we do things... every now and then i spend hours reading and commenting and you can read all about it (as long as the comments don't get deleted by moderators more interested in control than in conversation... control freaks destroy good conversation and sometimes, meaningful communication, but that's not just on facebook, that's life among frightened humans)... so why do you facebook?...

and if you don't go, why not?...

curious narf :)

wanna have more fun

does being constipated always mean you are full of shit?... yes, words do have multiple meanings and they, words, that is, can be more fun than a barrel of monkey (and just how much fun is a barrel of monkeys, anyway, really?... and did people really put monkeys in barrels to have fun once upon a time?... whatever for?... i mean, just to have fun or was there another purpose for putting monkeys in a barrel?... i suppose there is some weird truth to putting fish in a barrel for the poor marksmen with low self-esteem out there, but monkeys?... people in a barrel i've seen, pickles for sure, but monkeys?... who remembers emily littela?... where are all the brilliant writers these days?... anyone?... hello?... bueller?... maybe they all moved to facebook, which brings me to the whole social media phenomenon and the dichotomy of increased loneliness in spite of the increased connectivity in this instant information age... personalizing for a moment or few, it sucks...

like why do i have more than a thousand facebook friends listed on the frieds page and when something is posted to my wall (others do most of the postings on my wall), i might get one like if even that as if my wall does not even exist... could it be the lack of my real name or image in my profile?... i provide my telephone number, so how much more real and open to inquiry can i get?... i post a dozen links to my web world where i pour myself out without inhibition, so how much more open to scrutiny can i get?... perhaps people are just not interested in me or what i have to offer... worthlessness is not an easy reality to accept, alas, but the reality i experience is that what i have to offer, what i share, the being i am is simply not worth the time of other beings in this world... must be some sort of odor or aura i present that repels the mature human species... i mean, animals and children generally approach freely... insects certainly like me... so when i am asked by those who want to use facebook as a means of communication why i do not like facebook, i should simply be blunt and say because nobody likes me on facebook which is depressing and i don't want to go anywhere that is depressing... maybe what mayes sense to me doesn't make sense to others...

like narf :)

morning is early

slept and woke and slept and woke and slept and woke and that's been the pattern the last few days and this morning i am not heading back to sleep... and this morning i am not heading to facebook... i am finally officially tired of the facebook life and it took about a week, which is longer than usual... so much news and madness out there and it's all reflected on facebook and between my almost 1100 facebook friends, i get a very broad spectrum of it... enough for a lifetime in one day... and besides, i've got more clever photo memes saved on my hard drive than i will ever use anywhere...

but before i had my fill and felt fed up with facebook and paranoid agoraphobes and their memes and the skewed news of the world, there was still a bit more more more more more more more more more more more more more more more more more more more more more more more, i mean, just in case you wanted to experience a bit more random sampling of what's been dumped into my head recently...

anybody sane out there wanna come over for breakfast? :)

time on facebook

letting the laptop cool down is essential these days as the old box heats up more and more... and using facebook seems to heat it up even faster... it probably needs a good cleaning but at this point, not wanting to spend funds to replace it if something goes wrong and not wanting to spend funds to have it professionally cleaned, i use a fan and give it rest when the fan fails to keep it cool enough... the hard drive works so hard sometimes, even when i am doing nothing... one svchost.exe sucks up 200Mb of private working set memory and i have no idea what it or the other svchosts are doing with all that memory, but it definitely slows the processing and overheats the machine... at the moment, there is a 183Mb and 148Mb svchost along with about a dozen others... any idea what they are doing?...

meanwhile, i am spending more time on facebook this week... i would provide some highlights if i had links organized, but facebook does not make that easy and i am seeking distraction, not organization, so random chaos and disorganized distraction does not provide for whatever it is i am offering (or something like that)... i am diving into the world affirs, politics, religions, and all sorts of momentary lapses in reason to post my thoughts for all the world to see... probably shooting myself in the foot for job opportunities, but then, maybe i don't want to work for an organization that searches facebook to screen employees anymore... go ahead, take away my top secret security clearance because i am fed up with big brother and the horse he road in on... yeah, i get ornery when faced with the stupidity of fears and hate and madness in the world...

when will they every learn?...

anyway, narf :)

facebook and browsing

spent the last four or so hours wandering the web and catching up on the facebook wall... the stream seems so random sometimes as i see a lot of my facebook friends there but don't see other facebook friends there... maybe some block their stuff or maybe it's some other reason, but it doesn't make sense to me... seems if the feed is my feed based on my friends and pages i like and such, it should show all my friends posts...

anyway, i wandered in and wandered out and nobody i know offline noticed, as usual... left a half dozen comments and a few likes were attached by facebook friends i've never met, but who appear to share similar world views in some areas... the internet is a strange world, after all...

the facebook pages

so what to do with all that lonely energy, aye?... well, so maybe i did this already and maybe this is the first time i am formally introducing and semi-explaining the facebook pages (and one new group) i created... first thing we should know is these are not completely what they are intended to be just yet as they are not active and their theme or message is still evolving, but there is an intended theme for each... another thing to know is they are mostly images and memes at the moment as that is what so many pages are about and i wanted to try that way out and it also takes a lot less time to upload an image than it does to write (for me, at least, being the babbler that i am)... also, none of them are getting much attention or interaction, but that's life on the internet for me... i am obviously not attractive to audiences and don't do much of anything to change that... but the pages are out there and i wanted you to know, i mean, cuz you care and want to know everything about me and what i think whether deepest thoughts and feelings or fleeting moment whatevers, right?... so are we ready?... well, ready or not, here we go...

wide awake at 4am ... this is intended to be my feelings and inspirations as i get closest to my core in the middle of the night... some lonely angst might find it's way into this page as it gets deeper into the night (or me) and i remember how much i want to share life, love, and the pursuits...

stuff i want to remember ... this is just what it says, things i find on the internet that i want to remember... could be serious as a brick to the head and could be irreverent silliness just to amuse me...

independent views ... this is an attempt to find unbiased views of anything that might catch my eye or interest... it will probably see a lot of fact and figures and data and charts, though i will attempt to verify the sources are accurate and unbiased as much as possible...

change america ... this is where my bias will come in as i post what i think should be changed in this country and pose questions about the way things are out there in the land of the free and the home of the brave...

thank dog, ma ... this is where i question religious dogma (get it?) and while some frustration with the stupidity of the actions of some religious folk may pop up (and mockery coming from that frustration), mostly i intend this to be more enlightening and positive thought-provoking than controversial or provocative... i imagine it will offend those who prefer to take offence rather than discuss anything rationally, but it is what it is and everyone chooses their perspective and actions as they wish...

nocturnals ... this will be something about being nocturnal when it gets going...

unofficial - help ... this is the newest page and it is intended to be a place where anyone can come and ask for help with anything and anyone can come and offer help or answers as they see fit... positivity will be the very strongly encouraged way...

Survival Tips for the WWIII Generation

imagine - for non-theist singles ... this is my first attempt at a group and it was inspired by someone asking if there any agonistic-atheist dating sites on facebook or anywhere and when i searched facebook and didn't find any, i created this... since i don't market much, it may not go far, but hey, one never knows...

and that's a summary of the current pages (and one group) i created on facebook... are you thoroughly amazed and enchanted and want to have my baby now?... amused, i hope...

the venting

yeah, so before i fell asleep i took an accounting of the challenges and decided it was time to vent and while some of this might be too much candor (which is a private blog nobody gets to read until after we share eye contact and a whole lot more so we share an understanding of my deeper meanings, especially in my venting which are usually misinterpreted {even by jackson sometimes who knows me better than most} as much more negative than they really are... a couple of people understood along the way and i miss them... and share a private blog with on too... anyway, i hope you will allow leway and reserve judgment and try to understand the positivity in the vents and if not, oh well, nevermind... the next entry may be more fun, or at least lighter :)

ah life... it really does seem to suck sometimes... at least that is how it can feel (in spite of the most wonderful positivity, really, and seriously sarcastic self-mockery of a superior mastery even, really), really, seriously, even...

what?...

ah yes, it's the little things that make life extra special and spectacular, even, ya know?... well, the tournament sucks so far... the hotel is good, but surprisingly skimpy in basics kind of expected in a hotel that charges more than $100 a night... no fridge, no microwave, and no internet... i've had all three of those amenities in cheap motels that charge half this room rate... the beds and pillows and body comforts are excellent, but the tech and culinary features that would be needed to keep me here for more than a brief one or two night stay where i will spend next to no time actually at the hotel or in the room are totally missing... the tv is small and not superior quality and the remote works poorly... i don't even think the tv is 32 inches... the place obviously does it's best to help guests choose extra charges like for the valet parking as the self-parking is a longer walk and there is no sidewalk or path so you must walk in traffic past exhaust fumes from buses and the valet desk in order to get to the lobby and the lack of vending machines forces one to order room services if you don't want to go out for a drink or snack (and no fridge or microwave means don't bring food back to the room)... the most obvious lack of luxury quality service is the $10 charge per day (or even for three hours) for internet... ridiculous at this room rate...

but for sleeping only, the beds are great...

meanwhile, i contact ATT and find that they do not include the hot spot feature with my $230 phone plan... they want an additional $30 to turn that on... again, corporate america at work not in the average consumer's interest (and way out of reach of the poor which make up more than 47% mister almost president, thank you)... the motto the customer is always right long since died out as a business motto in this greedy country... i simply want to use a feature on the phone i paid for, to connect my phone to my computer to use the internet access i pay for, but ATT will not allow me to use the service i pay for as i want to use it without an additional $30 charge... we will have to have a more in depth talk when i am not on vacation about why they restrict my usage of the 2GB of internet i pay for...

and then there's the tournament... you might have heard aready (snarky reference to previous entries, no doubt)... we are relegated to the crappy fields and i mean dangerous infields with a pitcher's rubber that is raised and therein a serious risk of injury for ground balls hit back to the pitcher... the sand infield itself (and it is sand) is like running and playing on a beach at times... the sudden and random changes from harder clay sand to soft sand along base paths and other spots are an ankle injury waiting to happen... i may have thrown my arm out when my foot slid out from under me as i picked up a grounder, spun around, and threw to third... and while the good fields have food and space, these are cramped and have unsavory food trucks right next to the fields (just what you want to breath in playing ball) and all in all, a less than appealing atmosphere for a three day tournament... and nobody wants to hang out here, so it's mostly deserted between games... definitely not a tournament experience... but with jackson (which she's not wandering away texting) and some of the team who hung out, fun fun fun...

but this is a vent...

so then there's the hotel the team chose (this is suckage based mostly on location) which is a half an hour from the fields without traffic... just a bit beyond ridiculous as there are many choices closer to the fields... i am not sure just what the point of choosing a play with such a long drive, but so many things about this weekend were puzzling...

and then there's the game of softball... probably making everything less enjoyable (probably?) is that i played poorly today... no batting practice and my bat was typically not in synch the way it is not in synch when i don't do some batting practice before a game... i changed the lineup the coach set and put myself down from 4th to 8th... i hit close to 1.000 when i take batting practice... i hit under .300 when i don't... but the batting cages i planned on using were at the other good fields where i thought we were playing until an hour before game time...

communication for the team appears to be solely through the facebook team site and apparently the entire team has the facebook app and every message posted to the team site automatically downloaded to their phones... not going to happen with my phone for several reasons, not the least of which is i don't want facebook and all the related apps that integrate with it accessing my phone... i get text messages when someone posts to my fb wall and for a few other reasons, but fb does not send text for group sites or other reasons so i do not get an instant message on my phone when they use facebook to communicate... like when they changed dinner plans for tonight from 730pm to 8:00pm and didn't tell anyone except to post to the facebook site... guess i am just old-fashioned about wanting my personal communications and social life communicated directly to me rather than posted for the world and expecting me to check in every thirty seconds like an app or something...

so grumble grumble vent vent vent, i hit like crap and that sucked, but even worse, the entire team hit like crap (we scored something like 7 runs in 4 games, 5 in just one of those games... definitely not the way to play softball)... and the fielding was amazingly bad... in the first game if i did not make the out via strikeout or groundout to me, there were practically no outs being made by the other team... balls through legs in the infield and outfield... every ball hit to the outfield became a home run when it should have been caught easily... it was really disheartening and set the tone for the day...

it turns out half the team went out partying last night until after 4am and at least one did not remember how he got back to the hotel... that guy is our leadoff hitter and supposedly best outfielder and he stood out in the outfield watching balls roll past him and past other players and roll all the way to the fence several times... talk about letting a team down... why bother paying hundreds to register and attempt to play in a softball tournament if you are not interested in actually showing up ready to play?... especially when more than a dozen other people count on your to actually play... a lot of the team just does not seem to want to bend down and field a ball, infield and outfield, and that frustrated me more and more throughout the day and was major suckage...

pitching i did fine, though i walked more batters than i usually do because i did not want better hitters to hit the ball to the team not playing well behind me... and my arm was not feeling good at all... shoulder... but you can't strike out everybody in softball so we were creamed in all four games... no hitting and no fielding equals fast losses... i don't even feel like i got a workout and i feel like i wasted a lot of money...

so i vent...

say it again (part 3)

yes, i will repeat myself in order to shamelessly plug the three new pages i created on facebook (and i will do it again... we can find some original explanatory notes in previous entries and the preliminary introduction for the first page as well as the preliminary introduction for the second page have begun, but the definitive introduction to the facebook pages has yet to be actually written and this is just one small step for man, or rather, one small step towards that end...

sound familiar?... well, the third (this being part three, after all, starting to see the pattern?) page i created over on facebook is wide awake at 4am (reminder for me and fb complaint - not allowed a "username" until the page has 25 fans, but it let the indypage have a user name... arbitrary rules are stupid, anyway, when i finally can have a user name i must return and change all of the links to this page which adds to the annoyance, hence this paragraph here to remind me)...

this one is even more me than the other two as it is intended to be a collection of qords, images, memes (which are basically words on images as far as i can tell ya know), and assorted other postable stuff that amuses, inspires, or in some way belongs on a page that would be called wide awake at 4am with all the lyrical reference that title can muster... yeah, maybe getting closer to the core, or at least, advertising my heart a little more, aye?...

so there you have it, the three new fb pages in all their glory each provided with preliminary introductions here in (e)thereal (cuz facebook is (e)threal, right?) under the title say it again... and with all the sarcasm and self-mockery i can muster at this hour, can social networking get any more fun?... lol lam laa :)

facebook liking

gave the facebook like buttons a whole lotta love tonight as i explored, somewhat randomly, how the religions of the world are represented on facebook and found, not much... could be sleeping, of course, or hooking up my xbox 360 and checking out the games i bought today (though i have to order the instruments to play rock band cuz they didn't have any at either store)... of course i don't have time and will lose way too much sleep once i hook up the games... hopefully i won't die...

loving the irreverence of everything tonight, probably would offend everyone somehow, so good thing facebook keeps me and everyone else somewhat safe, even if that is just an illusion... you know where i live, or, at least, you know my name, look up my number (doesn't take much looking, actually, as the beatles inferred i believe)...

what?... of course this is (e)thereal, where else? :)

the world inside out

whatever happened to the simple love songs and the kind of love that went with those songs... yeah, well, anyway, with all the time i've spent on facebook lately, i figured it was about time i included an entry with links to some of the articles and places facebook lead me to (without throwing penalty flags even)... i mean, in case you want to know some of the news of the world (and assorted other things) that have passed through my head this month (reading is such a wonderful experience even when the news sucks depressing lemons), you can go get some popcorn and/or your favorite beverage and share with me my journies through the world wide web (like you used to, remember?)... yes, the world is a depressing place and it is even more sad to be alone in it... no wonder i've been wanding to find a partner more than ever recently... sigh... maybe even one not burdened by cultural prerequisits... anyway, i'd appreciate help defusing the bombs below... and any communication you'd like to share... remember, the facebook entries will lead you to most of my comments and pages and stuff i shared on facebook if you want to know me better... and then, of course, there is this index... for the record, some may be hard to read or watch and some of those have names instead of the word link... and 7 is haunting... like this one too... ah, but enough about me (you know how to find more), here is some of the world...

Catch up (and know more)

musical distractions

If people had visible signs or meters that told something about them, what would you want it to tell you?

dumb poll (above), smart responders

all the previous poll votes were somehow erased, so, nevermind... ironically or coincidentally or whatever, the results were very close in practical numbers to the results above shown with just three votes, if you understand the mathematics behind that extrapolative reasoning... i will probably remove the poll at some point... it is a ridiculously useless feature...

SEARCH ME

the thing is, with my tendency to babble and meander and whine and allow distraction to take the lead more often than not, even in this blog that sort of meant to merge brevity with focus like some bloggers do, searching for key words does not always lead to specific information about the subject of that key word... but... here is a start at an easy way to search for key words in this blog... use the search box at the top of the blog to search for words not listed here... if ya wanna, that is... and feel free to suggest words to add to this search shortcut section... click on the words below :)
