some of you may remember meg and dia and how much they've inspired me to remember how much i love lyrical music over the years (and you thought it was just that adorable smile of innocence and hope shining through the pouring rain at warped tour all those years ago, not to diminish the power of that inspiration though... how many feelings do you still feel years after first feeling it, after all?) so it might come as no surprise that finding some new words from meg in an old blog inspired my smile and that's all i've got to say in this entry, except for sharing the comment i left there...
Some attribute this quote to the talmud and others to anais nin or another individual or two but the meaning of the words supersede the source for me:
"we do not see things as they are as much as we see things as we are"
“we do not see things as they are, we see them as we are.”
the point being our perspective influences what we see so much, that we each see the same things uniquely, sight and all of our senses give us an individual experience of the physical reality around us based on the cumulative experience and genetics within us... what may be most universally shared is the understanding that the more we open our mind and our senses, the more we understand the truth in these words...
which is what i see you saying in this entry... which inspired my smile (as you so often do)...
thanks :)
so remember, everyone has a different perspective, a different point of view too... some view life from within their pants, some from within their shirts, some from behind their eyes... and some, from wherever they are at the moment realizing they can move their point of view around to see a bigger picture...
and what we see is a reflection of ourselves...
