after the first semi-good news about or from brighthouse last month when one of the first sensible and helpful customer service reps i've spoken to at the company (though i was looking for a tech person) cuz she was polite and patient and actually provided information i could use (like the fact that i was not getting the service i thought i was getting because brighthouse lies in their advertising and probably covers themselves in the fine print of the carbon copies of contracts they provide when they install equipment... and to adjust the discrepancy between the service they sold me and the service i actually had, they charged me more - though overall they lowered the bill by $2 and added a dvr to the service... but it's still all a serious rip off to charge as much as they do for commercial television...
but tonight, now i do not want to say it was because i was enjoying tv more than usual cuz that would simply be paranoid or supernatural or something, right?... but for some reason, perhaps a power blink-out, perhaps faulty equipment, perhaps crappy software, or planned obsolescence, whatever the reason, brighthouse went bonkers tonight as i was watching... both the router and the cable box rebooted (and took quite a while, like fifteen minutes) and when the router came back the lights were blinking for a while and the internet was extremely slow and when the cable box came back it turned on all sorts of wonky (i know, the technical terms bonkers and wonky may be beyond your technical education, but just consider the source) and the picture did not come back immediately and i had to shut it off and restart it several times before anything worked right...
it is amazing that a simple and vital thing like surge protection including battery backup (an essential aspect of surge protection) is not included in the hardware for cable boxes... that can only be either a coincidental fatal error in the design of cable boxes across several companies or a deliberate cost savings decision to increase profits for service and replacement boxes...
they are probably lousy in bed too...

musical distractions
If people had visible signs or meters that told something about them, what would you want it to tell you?
dumb poll (above), smart responders
all the previous poll votes were somehow erased, so, nevermind... ironically or coincidentally or whatever, the results were very close in practical numbers to the results above shown with just three votes, if you understand the mathematics behind that extrapolative reasoning... i will probably remove the poll at some point... it is a ridiculously useless feature...
SEARCH ME
the thing is, with my tendency to babble and meander and whine and allow distraction to take the lead more often than not, even in this blog that sort of meant to merge brevity with focus like some bloggers do, searching for key words does not always lead to specific information about the subject of that key word... but... here is a start at an easy way to search for key words in this blog... use the search box at the top of the blog to search for words not listed here... if ya wanna, that is... and feel free to suggest words to add to this search shortcut section... click on the words below :)
