to the fields

driving up i was the first one there, as i expected, and i unloaded my stuff and sat down to change clothes and wrap the foot/ankle and tie everything up tight and by the time i was done some people were arriving and so were the clouds... at the scheduled time for the practice game to start only half dozen of our team was there and the rain started... it lasted about twenty minutes and we started practicing as it lightened up... there are two pitchers on the team and the other one only pitches and plays first base, so they put me at third - go figure, my first game back and i am gonna test the ankle/foot at third (not to mention my arm)...

even in the rain (first two innings we saw a lot) on a wettish field i was doing surprisingly well... my lateral mobility was definitely weak (two balls got by me that i should have had in my mind), but my forward motion and throws were right on (i threw out the six other batters who hit the ball my way)... yay for slow proper rehab and correctly applying the right equipment for protection... we won the practice game, i went 2 for 3 and had 3 rbis and scored a run, yes, i ran (trotted) the bases... so carefully i am working my way back on the field with good results... i would have been safe on the one out i made if i sprinted to first, but sprinting is not happening for a few more weeks, at least... i am very satisfied given the weather and third base challenge and being off the fields for the last five months...

and then it was home for food (jacksom was much hungrier than me as the buffet was still filling me, so we decided we would order in when we got home)... a great end to a great day, or so we though at the time...
