still good, in spite of stupidity

the game was umpired by one umpire, a girl who filled in for us at second base more than a few times and admitted she had not umpired in more than a month, seldom does, and it sure showed... ridiculous strike zone as she called balls before the ball hit the ground and they landed strikes... intimidated by the other team (aggressive men most of whom could hit the ball over the fence who definitely did not belong in a recreational league) into changing calls against us a few times and if the league had any rules or leadership, we'd have the game re-played because of her flagrant disregard for rules... but it's a recreational league with no ASA umps and little respect for rules or players or teams... just the most expensive league in town... we will be looking elsewhere after next season (we are already signed up for it) even though the guy in charge of the league offered me a $200 discount to stay... there are leagues out there that charge less than $200 less than this league charges and those leagues offers ASA umpires who follow ASA rules...

so anyway, we lost, not by much (i think 11-8), but i wouldn't call it a loss as the umpire allowed the game to be played unfairly and all we can do is ignore the stupidity and forget it and get ready to try to enjoy next week...

i love lemonade :)

musical distractions

If people had visible signs or meters that told something about them, what would you want it to tell you?

dumb poll (above), smart responders

all the previous poll votes were somehow erased, so, nevermind... ironically or coincidentally or whatever, the results were very close in practical numbers to the results above shown with just three votes, if you understand the mathematics behind that extrapolative reasoning... i will probably remove the poll at some point... it is a ridiculously useless feature...

SEARCH ME

the thing is, with my tendency to babble and meander and whine and allow distraction to take the lead more often than not, even in this blog that sort of meant to merge brevity with focus like some bloggers do, searching for key words does not always lead to specific information about the subject of that key word... but... here is a start at an easy way to search for key words in this blog... use the search box at the top of the blog to search for words not listed here... if ya wanna, that is... and feel free to suggest words to add to this search shortcut section... click on the words below :)
