whatever happened, happened

was wandering the web a lot while the really poor quality nbc olympics coverage #nbcfail played in the background... the best i can say about nbc is they are consistently bad and come up with a new way to surprise me with poor quality every day... like the gynastics commentators who give away what is going to happen before it happens (not as bad as last night when the poor fool showed arrogance that embarrassed us all or the juxtaposition of the grinning monkey on rings moments after the commentary about african american girls taking up gymnastics, but nbc has been shocking us with bad taste and even worse commentary and decisions throughout the olympics)... or the diving that uses the splash meter haphazardly... or the choices of events to show and not show... amazingly out of touch with the world and sports... but they are the only game in town unless i pirate an international channel or watch online...

much of the olympics are fun to watch as long as i keep the sound off and ignore the fact that nbc is skewing everything to the usa as if we are not sophisticated enough to want to actually watch what most of the rest of the world is watching, a world event (as opposed to a jingoistic pretense)... perhaps i should have ranted about #nbcfail more (probably would have if i was at the computer more, but our visitor drew me away a lot the past week... i did comment on many pages reporting on the olympics and there were so many tagged #nbcfail it was sad)...
