figures

cell service has sucked today... and wouldn't you know, i decided to explore the computer a bit more and discovered that i can send ext messages from the computer to the cell phone and vice versa... so i dug deeper and found i can check my usage and stuff and then...

the att communication manager froze...

here we go again... a few weeks ago when i updated to windows vista sp2, the att connection stopped working and i spent two hours on the phone to get it fixed and it turned out i needed to uploade an update to be compatible with windows vista sp2 that microsoft nor att naturally did not tell me about... and today, the manager locked up again...

turns out the tech support person, after an hour and a download and following the instructions posted on their website, admitted that there is a known issue with windows vista compatibility even with the latest att software and so the feature manager won't work, but i can still connect to the internet as long as i don't use the features... so why use the att software when it is not compatible with windows?...

because using the windows software is feeding the monster, the microsoft monopoly created by subtrifuge of most every other software through incompatibility issues... heck, even other microsoft software has issues... heck, even the operating system itself has issues, maybe more than all the other software's issues combined... crap makes crap... incompatible crap craps incompatibly... or something like that :)

i'm more frustrated and tired of microsoft crap and suckage than it may seem, but after wasting another two hours on the phone with att suckage, and crap, it's time to rush into the shower and head out to jackson's party... happy new year everybody :)

blurrry

worked and home again, and wasting my time... something froze and i had to reboot the laptop and i had set it to check the disk on the next reboot, but should checkdisk take three hours?... so i nodded off and all the amazing things in my head dissolved into dreams i don't remember... alas, what a waste...

and more than 250,000 files?... talk about technological bloat, more than 250,000 files?... what the heck for?... i put ms office and two other programs, an security program and a game program on this laptop since i bought it... the laptop came with so much bloat, so many extra programs... it can take ten minutes to shut down and re-start and three hours to checkdisk?... how long will a defrag take, or will it hang and never actually finish like xp used to do...

hours wasted waiting for the computer to check itself and fix itself and what a waste...

vista is the worst os yet...

netbooks

in keeping with the recent tech stuff thought process that emerged in the last entry or two, sort of, mostly because microsoft still sucks (and if i had time i'd find and link my other rants about the suckage of microsoft and att and most of the corporations milking people dry in our modern world, but time time time is not on my side, no it isn't, these days, even if it is still telling you a story, with and without acknowledged or not musical references, after all), i am, almost daily of late, pondering the purchase of a netbook...

the reason is largely because the writing jones is itching to be scratched more and more once again... and the portability of a netbook would allow for more five minute blurbs scribbled throughout the day than a full 15.6 inch laptop does... or so the theory in my head goes... and that is possible, perhaps probable, but an 8.9 inch or even smaller would, but similar logic, be more effective than a 10.1 inch and all i seem to see lately are the 10.1 inch models, so would the difference make the difference i would like it to make and would the actual difference be worth the ever rising netbook prices, and so goes the almost daily pondering...

a wireless keyboard would help as well, for even a laptop is bulky and quite warm for long term sitting on a lap, so ponder the wireless keyboard more, i say to myself, for that is not a $400-$500 netbook expense and it would make a difference for the babbler itching to scribble more more often more again more, evermore, again...

thereal is fascinating, isn't it?...

well, sarcastic, at least ::)

afternoon crawl

the morning entry has much more detail... spent the day so far relaxing and browsing the net, especially trying to browse and add people at facebook, though the connection here is so slow the pages often will not load the first time (time out, connection broken) or it just takes forever for each page... att, that's ATT or AT&T for search engines, sucks... almost a hundred bucks a month for services slower than the slowest dial up i've ever had (and i started on bulletin boards, you remember 300 baud?)... i really must move out of this place and dump ATT when I do...

so anyway, i ought to have a lot of the people i see regularly added to my facebook some time this week depending on when they check their facebooks... exciting, aye?... yeah, ok, so it's time to shower and get ready for dinner... no, no cleaning or laundry, a few hours relaxing was better for the body given the schedule for the next fifty five or so hours... shoulda napped though, i'm sleepy... anyway, you know where the calendar is if you are interested enough...

and i will repeat myself again cuz i've got this song in my head these days and it's still just moving in to my psyche, and... it is so very cool when there is an actual magazine article about real world artist friend (scroll down to page 37) to share too (if you’ve been following along for a while, i took her to jc superstar over the summer) and you would love her and her work, so keep your eyes out for her and her work as the years pass and remember, you heard it here, even if it wasn’t first…

enjoy your night and make it special :)

swirling synapses

morning, good?... hope it is for you,m it will be for me as soon as i wake up and start the day cuz excitement about the softball playoffs tonight has been buzzing around and keeping me semi-awake... all night long, ya ya...

i must explore bmop dot exe more because it is in the att folder and is constantly demanding access to the eb in what my virus program calls a suspicious manner and yet, it appears to be part of the att package that checks optimization of proxy stuff so i am allowing it to continue cuz the only reason i am aware of it is i set the virus program to a higher level of warnings...

new laptop soon... make today wonderful... see ya when you get here :)

hours on the phone with att

netowrk issues... i've realized that since getting a more consistent 3g network signal, i am getting consistently slower downloads and uploads... well, i haven't had time to spend on the phoen to sort it out, but tonight i suddenly could no longer download mail or browse the web and the connection manager said i was connected, so i called att... i finally had to tell the very nice techie that i needed to get off the phone, so they set up service ticket and they will call back... the thing is, looking at my schedule, they won't find me home at my computer anytime they call back until february 3rd, at least...

i am buying a new laptop this weekend... this old cluncker is fine for sitting on a desk as a desktop, but i need a portable one... the decision will be between an eee machine or a bigger, but much lighter than this one, model... cost and impulse must strike a compromise... and i';ve got to remember i am covering precious' rent for february and laying out the money for the tennessee trip next week... raspy, get a job and buy me a laptop, dangit... actually, you can cover a few and then some, a nice stereo too... furniture... a complete tuneup for the car... yeah, i'll keep dreaming... he'll be rich someday and pay be back... no more loans for trips to the unkraine until he does though :}

did you know that korea and japan average over 16mbs (megabytes per second) download speed?... and the usa average is under 6mps... dozens of countries are way ahead of us in technology, including internet speed, which is communication for business and people (and government, military, security, and so on... who's computers will communicate faster in a crisis?... not the usa computers, that's for sure)... and when i personalize this it gets much worse... the usa southeast average?... 2mps... and att average download speed in this area?... 0.5mps... and my connection?... between 0.03mps and 0.1mps... scary slow...

so ok, a change is in order... but for the short term, i need to find time to get the laptop and i won't have time tomorrow or friday unless i take more time off work and that's ridiculous with the load on my desk, so i should have done it tonight and doh, i was on the phone with att from about 7:30pm until now... saturday morning?... must be... so how was your evening? :)

what night?

well, almost two hours ago i got home thinking that i got out of work early (for me) and maybe i can eat and digest and get to the gym and still get some sleep, but little did i know rasputin was not hearing his computer since the seventeen hour marathon repair and reformmating i did ages ago (it's mentioned somewhere in these entries... or those)... so we walked through a dozenty seven different steps on the phone and finally i thought, hmmmm, maybe dell makes their sound driver proprietary and that's why windows can't find it... sure enough, we found the driver on the dell site and now, raspy can hear his computer again... he isn't going deaf after all...

my soup, meanwhile, waited in the microwave for the whole conversation... so the shrimp kinda shrunk more than intended, but it's still a pretty good smoked lobster bisque with shrimp and onions soup cuz i like it... i think the secret ingredients, spaghettios, parm and romano cheese, ketchup, and french fried onions might have done the trick... mmmmmm, lobster bisque... why you looking at me funny?...

and now, belly full and less frustrated about deciding to go into work in the morning (and monday morning) instead of taking the days off completely as planned cuz there's stuff nobody else will do that really needs to get done... i'll just get paid for the days and leave early then... and harp on getting the laptop even more... nyuk...

so that's my day and evening and how about you? (i ask because i care and i'll just keep asking cuz the day i forget will probably be the day you respond... narf :}

well that was interesting

the laptop seemed to die for a while... i think the vents for the hard drive and cpu fans got clogged and appeared to shut down the hard drive, but then, it also appears that windows xp and the att communication manager were somehow corrupted (both said they were and after several re-boots, reverted back to older configurations)... it all stemmmed from downloading and installing firefox and flash/quicktime updates... i am very seriously just moments away from switching back to internet explorer, in spite of getting used to firefox and liking it... it does not render some of the pages i visit (and some of my own pages) as designed (heck, it can't even read the wing dings font)... anyway, once i blew the dust into the box to clear the fan vents (yeah, i know, a very temporary solution, i must find the right small tools to open the box and blow out the dust from the inside asap), the hard drive started coming back to life and after another off-on reboot windows xp opened again with a reverted configuration... i then copied the entire my documents folder over to my mybook while i was out playing softball (we were destroyed, by the way, but that's another story of murder and intrigue)... when i got home, after ale house and krystals, the laptop was still on, but the att aircard would not connect... a few more on-off and disconnect-reconnect deals and another corruption detected message, and here we are, finally reconnected as if nothing happened... bet you didn't even know i was gone (poke)...

yeah, i almost hooked up my old mac (i think it's a g2, but i haven't actually set it up since buying it some time ago, in fact, the same week or even day i bought this laptop, so that must be going on years now... which just proves i am insane, at least to mac users... lunatic fringe just ponder...

19-5 was the damage on the field tonight... we just could not field a ball to save our lives... and our hitting went sour... i was 2 for 2 and in the on deck circle when the last out was called... i walked one in the last inning after they already clobbered us for 19 runs... we were sad, though emotionally we had fun and seven of us went out for beer and wings and football after the game (one of us is a browns fan, so the night ended with cheers)... and i stopped for krystals on the way home, so obviously the spaghetti was fine re-boiled and all (see the previous entry to figure that one out)...

the only way life could be more fun or better is if i was sharing it with a best friend or or lover or partner and took care of the body better, but then, alone the taste buds are my favorite organ, sometimes, though only by a smidge sometimes... so what have you been up to tonight? (hope it was much fun :)

Catch up (and know more)

musical distractions

If people had visible signs or meters that told something about them, what would you want it to tell you?

dumb poll (above), smart responders

all the previous poll votes were somehow erased, so, nevermind... ironically or coincidentally or whatever, the results were very close in practical numbers to the results above shown with just three votes, if you understand the mathematics behind that extrapolative reasoning... i will probably remove the poll at some point... it is a ridiculously useless feature...

SEARCH ME

the thing is, with my tendency to babble and meander and whine and allow distraction to take the lead more often than not, even in this blog that sort of meant to merge brevity with focus like some bloggers do, searching for key words does not always lead to specific information about the subject of that key word... but... here is a start at an easy way to search for key words in this blog... use the search box at the top of the blog to search for words not listed here... if ya wanna, that is... and feel free to suggest words to add to this search shortcut section... click on the words below :)

WORK ... JOB ... MUSIC ... LOVE ... SOFTBALL ... KA ... 42 ... LOL ... LAM ... LAA ... ... ...
