frustrating loss

yes, we did not play well tonight... i went 1 for 2 in the first game with a walk, scored a run and had 1 rbi... we lost 7-5... never got it together after they scored 6 runs in the first... we had several subs as several key players couldn't make it and we were not warmed up for that first inning (or first game, for that matter, when it came to our bats)...

but the frustrating game was the second game... the first was the last game of the season... the second was the first round of the playoffs and we jumped out to a lead and held that lead all the way through to the bottom of the seventh... some key blunders, balls dropping out of gloves, weak hitters not running out ground balls and creating easy double plays, and poor hitting from subs and a few regulars let them get back into it but the most frustrating part for me was i walked more batters than i usually do and in critical times... the walks indirectly accounted for 3-4 runs, though i did not walk in a run... they won 12-11 in the bottom of the seventh after the last out got away from me with a 3-2 count and the next batter hit a high fly to right field that the right fielder could not find (she was standing about three feet in front of where the ball landed)... before that a line drive got past her and two runs scored giving them 10 runs... it was a frustrating way to lose cuz we were in control all game and just stopped playing well in the last innings (and stopped hitting to boot)...

the playoffs are double elimination so we have a game next week against the first place team... not much chance for us, but hopefully we will give it a good effort... we are in the upper division with teams that are better than us... the lower division teams would be much more competitive for us but the organizers of the league wanted five teams in each bracket so we got the nudge up... we've lost our last for and finished 2-6 in last place... 2-7 counting the playoff loss... maybe next season they will let us play with the teams closer to our skill level...
