or so it seems... the tech showed up and did not have the expertise to test/fix everything and everything he tried changed nothing, so a whole saturday shot and nothing changed except the location of the cable box, which is now atop a kitchen cabinet with wires running up the side of the cabinet... not ideal, but if it works, great...
trouble is, it didn't work... the speed is still way slower than the speed i am paying for, so another tech, a pc-tech (level 3, perhaps, as this guy was a level 2 tech) is coming out tomorrow 2-4pm... hopefully it won't take too long as i'll be heading into work after the tech is done, just like right now... so much for a fun weekend... tonight though, i hope to continue unpacking and moving in and that will be a pleasure (after it is done :)
