that is the nature of a 24/7 gig and i choose such responsibility primarily because i have no biological family and love the nurturing role of parent and a 24/7 gig, especially in health care, is as close to parenting as it gets short of creating a biological or at least adopted immediate family... and it pays the bills... and what else do i have to do, after all... the one understands, wherever she may be... some of you may understand as well, even if you don't choose to devote your life to caring for others in work and home... all that to say that's whee i've been for the past two hours, on the phone helping guide a manager and a supervisor toward finding solutions for a staffing issue caused by someone not showing up for work and not answering their phone... the new manager in charge of staffing needs more help than i thought she would and so i spent some time helping her see what needs to be done going forward to avoid similar nights like this and then i wrote out guidelines she can use to implement a system to insure all staff are aware of the reasons a mandatory overtime system is needed, the rules of a mandatory overtime system, the consequences for staff who force implementation of the mandatory overtime system, and the fairness and benefit to all staff of having such a system...
maybe i'll post it somewhere for your further edification cuz some of you are insatiably curious about what i do (hey, it is not all in my mind when you tell me it's not, ya know? lol lam)...
so much narf, if you know what i mean :)
