snl and late night

looked up cast, read a bit... while there has not been a cast as good as the first few years (or as good as the second best cast, the murphy-piscopo years), the current cast has a bit of promise... maybe... most of the years since those first two groups have had one or two really funny people, but no ensembles that good have been put together since... the first group made comedy seamless and seem easy... almost every one of them were great, several were brilliant, and they meshed better than any comedy group i recall (except maybe monty python)... the second group was good, but relied heavily on the two leads, murphy and piscopo... there has not been as balanced or as talented a group since the first, especially the women in the cast... over the years, more and more, the comedy became more forced, more desperate... the players were trying way too hard to be funny and begging for laughs is not funny to me... only richard pryor did that well, but that's because that was only one small part of his style... and he was brilliant in other ways...

and what's this? (it's about time)... fallon to take over tonight show in 2014?... i did not get the memo...
