and the rains win again

another rainout, alas, i miss the days i used to play football cuz that would not be rained out nearly as easily as softball... in fact, soggy muddy football was fun... but i am not taking this body out to bounce off the ground anymore these days, alas, age does provide some physical limits... even if the shoulder was perfect, it would not be wise to be diving for balls the way i used to... and with the shoulder as it is, my quarterbacking days are way off in the future... note i did not say it would not happen...

meanwhile, i've got to expand my social life... part of accepting a roommate living situation, besides the obvious cutting bills in half (which never happened, alas, in fact, it's actually cost me, but that's another story you've probably heard more than a few times before) and having an emergency friend at home (which isn't often either), was the benefit of not eating alone every night and not having to search for social life or just companions to watch tv or talk to during the week... a little social smile in the morning and someone to say good night to at night is a pleasant benefit of roommates... at the moment, and for a while now, because of her work schedule and more recently, work schedule and social life, she's almost never home so i eat dinner alone every night and spend every day and am basically living alone... in fact, the closest thing to my living situation i can compare it to is being a single parent of two cuz i cover all the bills most months, babysit the dog, and spend most of my time alone unless i go out with friends...

so when my softball and other social stuff is cancelled it's even more lonely... if it wasn't imprudent to spend money if could find people to go out to dinner with i suppose... though only one or two friends in this area are single and nobody i know can afford eating out as much as i could (when i was working or even now... the economy is tough and the circle of people who have extra cash to burn is smaller every year)... so expanding social life is the answer i suppose... it would be good to find another roommate to lower expenses too...

ah, rains are fun sometimes, but sometimes they are lonely...
