the heat and humidity (mostly the humidity) helps the syfy channel take me to another planet tonight as the 20th anniversary of the sci-fi channel is on... it is as much a commercial for the shows on the channel as a celebration of 20 years of sci-fi... very big push to sell the reality-tv sci-fi programming (oxymoron for sure, but they are paying lots of people to say they love the crap)... personally, i don't consider emo-shock tv anywhere close to science fiction and i want a sci-fi channel, not wwe wrestling and over-dramatic people freaking out over bugs and imaginary bumps in the night, but many people seem to love the scaredy-cat stuff... just wish they would invest in real sci-fi and not cancel those shows after a year or two cuz they are too expensive (eureka, caprica, firefly, sarah connor chronicles, threshold, dollhouse, the 4400, there are many, many more (and not just on sci-fi)... tv producers put profits over imagination and that's understandable, but it's the greed i don't like... a show that has a devoted fan base and is not losing money should not be cancelled even if the ratings are supposedly not up to the current standard set by the suits... the money made in merchandise and conventions and other revenue sources would continue to grow if the shows stayed on... yeah, i'm not the only one...
who thinks so...
but then, humans, what more is there to say :)
